Quiet Contemplation by Jakkal

Since I took some time off, I decided to doodle a little painting. Took about 8 hours to do. Came out pretty good. Wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but it's pretty :]

Teaching navigation in old Fehnnia by stevegallacci

Another Fehnnik image. Much like nautical navigation, being able to travel the trackless deserts needs accurate guidance. That and Fehnniks had an intense interest in astronomy with its connections to astrology and religion. So very elaborate instruments, along with time tables assembled over centuries of observations, could derive location and time/date with great aaccuracy.

Medium: pencil
Tags: Fehnniks
It's Nothing by Glitter

Alright, a commission for a friend Of his character, Arcthoudor [fitting, no?] and mine, Patience, when they were younger.

Arc and Patience didn't really grow up together, but when they started learning how to fight, they were kind of forced to become hesitant friends.

Here, they are tracking something [or someone], and Patience thinks she hears something in the bushes. Arc, being the more experienced woodsman, is telling her to be quiet while he tracks, and it's probably nothing... just a rabbit or something.

I'm gonna do a follow up with them being chased by a bear, I swear it.

Traditional Media... complete with background. My hand hurts. Three days, this took me. But it was fun.

Medium: traditional
Tags: fox fox white eating crab
Fox On Stilts by Idess

Maned Wolves are commonly known as "Foxes on Stilts". It seems the little red fox tried a bit -too- hard to be like his taller cousin!

This original will probably be in the Art Show at Further Confusion 2009 (yes, January 2009). If not, I will probably auction it off on Furbuy.com.

Prints of this will also be available soon, whenever I get the money to make prints :) If you think you want a print, send me a note. Maybe if there's enough interest I'll try to scrounge up some money for a small print run or something like that.

Fox in the Snow by Silent Ravyn

Snowstorm today =( I thought spring was coming! Ah well, this little foxie seems to be enjoying himself. I couldn't resist the thought of a red fox walking through a forest, paw deep in snow and calmly admiring the flakes falling around him. Unfortunately my scanner didn't pick up a lot of the detail in the snow on the ground, but I'll try and upload a better file later.

A little bit of an experiment, both with background and medium. For this I used a base of watercolor and then acrylic on top to make things look more 'solid'. Let me know how it turned out, as I might try it again in the future =3

Medium: Watercolor and Acrylic
Tags: fox snow winter trees snowflake
Fire Steals Coyote by Mary Mouse

So while pondering and pondering of what to draw for Quickxyk I decided to read up on coyote mythology. Coyote stealing fire from the fire beings was a popular Native American story... but I wondered how poor Xyk would manage...
